Julia Marcucci Wood is a Houston-based visual artist who focuses on figurative realism within her compositions. As a fine artist, Julia has exhibited and taught within the Houston area. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education and Studio Drawing from Stephen F. Austin State University and has received her Masters of Fine Art in Studio Art at the Houston Christian University.
Julia’s practice and concentration stem from the cycles of femininity and exploration of self-image reflected in her drawings. While experimenting with different forms of the body, Julia is currently diving into the different stages of Motherhood and the resilience of the female body throughout her own journey of being a mother. By incorporating stories and experiences from women, Julia challenges traditional notions of beauty and perfection.
Julia has shown in Houston art fairs, galleries, participated as an artist in the city’s galas and auctions, and workshops. Additionally, she has contributed to lectures and demonstrations at her alma mater and authored content published on the institution’s official website. Julia continues to create and showcase her work regularly, using each opportunity to hone her craft and connect with her community within the Houston area.
